it was my first time visiting Los Angeles, and it did not disappoint.
it was one of the more memorable trips i’ve taken, and here are some reasons why.
#1. being honked at the customary 6,243 times. LA residents seem like laid back folks, but when they step into their vehicles, everything changes. at first, i was getting stressed out about it. the constant honking while simultaneously getting lost caused much anxiety for me…but by the end of the trip, getting honked at & watching people yell cuss words through their windshields was…funny.
#2. “are we in a bad part of town?” (3 seconds of driving later…) “oh wait, no…now we are in Beverly Hills.” i know now that LA is a massive melting pot of different people, styles, and cultures all rolled into one, cohesive city. from street to street, it was something different. it was a nice surprise, actually.
due to my shameful consumption of reality television, i was expecting for everyone to either look like fake barbie people, or look as if they were in a rock band. i also imagined all of the houses to look like Lisa Vanderpump’s.
i saw some of those things, but much less than i had anticipated. it just goes to show…nothing is quite as it seems. and sometimes, it’s better.
#3. last, but definitely not least…spending time with my friend Elayna. we ate donuts, caught up on life stuff, visited the Griffith Observatory, and did this fun shoot at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. it felt at times like we were back in Nashville, where we would meet at a local nail salon and have our bi-weekly catch up sessions. it proves that sometimes, it’s not where you are, it’s who you’re with.
