i. love. ice cream.
always have. always will.
and come to think of it, there aren’t many things i love more than ice cream. and because it’s almost summer, i have recently forced myself to resist my cravings until the weekend.
when friday rolls around, however, i dish myself a large bowl of chocolate ice cream, and add some sprinkles.
simple & classic.
if you’re anything like me, you’re not just going to give up your most favorite food in the whole wide world.
you will do other things instead.
for example, i have been running recently.
(if you know me, the idea of me running is a big deal)
if you don’t want to run, trust me, i understand.
here are three easy things you can do with your style to achieve a more flattering look, without giving up your favorite carbs.
#1 – carry a big tote or handbag. proportions are everything when dressing yourself. when you sport a big bag, you appear smaller in comparison. its basic science.
here is a great everyday tote from j.crew, currently on sale and in a variety of colors!
#2 – wear the right jeans for you. just because skinny jeans have been popular as of late, doesn’t mean you have to wear them. plus, bell bottoms are totally chic again. if you’re curvier around your waist and hips, choose jeans that have a wider leg extending from your knee to the floor. the proportion of the wide leg will make your thighs appear smaller in size. um, yes please!

#3 – invest in the fit & flare. most of us are smallest at our true waist (right under the rib cage), therefore, we should accentuate that portion of our bodies. there are TONS of pieces that feature a fit & flare style, and its not just the typical a-line skirt or dress you may be thinking of. peplum tops, wrap dresses, rompers, midi skirts, skater dresses, and jumpsuits can all be flattering when you purchase styles that accentuate the smallest part of your waist. look for items that can be easily accessorized with a short waist belt, and never buy these items when they fit tightly at your hip area.
