ALL IMAGES by MADI FLOURNOY HENDERSON

this sunday, i’m writing to you from my new downtown apartment, after a long week of moving, unpacking, and working Nashville Fashion Week.
it’s been one of the more stressful weeks in my adulthood, but now that it’s over, i would be happy to do it all over again.
having the opportunity to work behind the scenes of NFW was such a neat experience for me. it was my first year to be involved, and hopefully not my last.
my favorite part was standing beside the photo pit during a show, hearing all of the cameras snapping images, one right after the other for twenty straight minutes.
to see all that goes into a runway show was pretty spectacular. from the models doing walk throughs, to the designer fittings, to crowds lining up at the doors.
this year, we had two special attendees who paid us a visit. Nigel Barker (handsome Londoner & noted Fashion Photographer) as well as Fern Mallis (founder of NYFW).
if you live in the Nashville area, or a surrounding state, i would definitely recommend getting your friends together and buying tickets for next year’s fashion week!
this spring season, the influence of the 70’s era are everywhere. from round shades, to bell bottom trousers, to overalls with plunging necklines.
many of the designers at NFW showcased 70’s inspired looks, and many of the attendees sported crop tops with bell bottoms, paired with mules and top knots.
this dress screams 70’s to me, but in a different way.
from its unconfined ruffles, to its free flowing sleeves, it’s easy.
if you ask me, i’m ready for a long weekend at Coachella in this dress.
i chose to modernize the look a bit with clean lines and leather details in my shoes (Michael Kors), as well as my bag (Chanel 2.55).
additionally, i chose classic, large framed sunnies (DVF).
70’s style is so fun to play around with.
try out your own version of a 70’s inspired look this spring with flowery prints, flared trousers, crop tops, and wedges.
